If you need more clarity about the suitability, please contact us for personalised advice and information regarding our services.
Is IV therapy safe?
Yes. IV therapy is entirely safe. Our components come from reputable pharmacies and suppliers, supervised by our specialized Doctor.
Are there any side effects with IV therapy?
Side effects are uncommon and minor. Potential side effects may include bruising or tenderness at the drip site and a metallic taste in the mouth. These effects are brief and require no intervention.
Does IV therapy hurt?
A slight sensation may be experienced as the needle penetrates the skin. Subsequent treatment is painless.
How do IV drips function?
IV drips administer an electrolyte solution directly into the bloodstream via a catheter and tubing, often containing customized micronutrients and vitamins.
During the therapy session, a nurse inserts an IV line connected to a bag of hydration solution (Ringers Lactate) hung above the patient. IV therapy relies on gravity to infuse the fluid into the veins over time.
Treatment duration varies but typically lasts 30 to 45 minutes.
What are the advantages of IV therapy?
IV therapy efficiently delivers nutrients, vitamins, and electrolytes, surpassing oral supplements by bypassing the digestive system. Direct absorption into the bloodstream ensures maximum utilization, higher dosages, and immediate availability for cellular function, yielding rapid results.
Why are vitamins and antioxidants essential?
Vitamins and minerals are key for maintaining optimal health and homeostasis. Deficiencies can lead to various acute and chronic conditions. Antioxidants are essential in supporting the immune system, detoxifying, eliminating free radicals, and enhancing energy production.
What areas does IVgo serve?
We currently serve Cape Town and surrounding areas.
Do you accept medical aid?
Yes! We are affiliated with Discovery Medical Aid - you can claim back approximately 70% of the total drip cost, which will be paid from your Medical Savings Account (MSA). Simply pay upfront, and then submit your claim to Discovery for reimbursement.

What is peptide therapy?
Peptide therapy uses specific amino acid sequences to support your body's natural healing and recovery processes. Peptides are signalling molecules - they tell your cells what to repair and when. They are not steroids and they are not hormones.
At IVgo, we offer two peptide treatments:
- BPC-157 Pen (R3,000) - a pre-loaded pen for injury recovery, gut healing, and inflammation reduction. Best suited for localised injuries like tendon issues, muscle strains, and post-surgical recovery.
- Wolverine Stack Pen (R4,500) - combines BPC-157 with TB-500 in a single pen for a dual-mechanism approach to healing. TB-500 works systemically to mobilise repair cells and reduce inflammation across the body. Best suited for chronic or complex injuries, multi-tissue damage, and cases where BPC-157 alone hasn't been enough.
Both are self-administered via subcutaneous injection (similar to an insulin pen) after a one-on-one training session with our nurse.
Additional peptide therapies are available by consultation, including GLP-1 receptor agonists (semaglutide/tirzepatide) for medically indicated weight management, and CJC-1295/Ipamorelin for growth hormone support and recovery. These require a doctor consultation and blood work before prescribing. Based on your results and goals, we can arrange formulations through our registered compounding pharmacy partners.
All peptides are sourced exclusively from registered South African compounding pharmacies - pharmaceutical-grade, verified purity, proper cold-chain handling. No imports, no unverified suppliers.
What is NAD+ therapy and why does IVgo use injection pens instead of IV drips?
NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every cell in your body. It plays a central role in energy production, DNA repair, and cellular regulation. NAD+ levels naturally decline with age - by up to 50% between ages 40 and 60 - which is linked to reduced energy, impaired cognitive function, and accelerated ageing.
IVgo offers NAD+ as a pre-loaded monthly injection pen (R2,900) rather than an IV drip. Here's why: NAD+ delivered intravenously is associated with significant side effects including nausea, chest tightness, and cramping during the infusion. These reactions are common enough that many clients struggle to complete a full IV session. The subcutaneous injection route avoids these side effects entirely while still delivering NAD+ effectively.
Each pen contains a full month's supply (8 doses, administered twice per week). We include one-on-one training on injection technique during your first session, and ongoing support throughout your treatment.
